Notice of Temporary Closure – Both branches of the Asphodel-Norwood Public Library will be closed from Sunday, December 24, 2023 to Monday, January 1, 2024. Regular business hours resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. 
Programs & Events:

CO2 Monitor – This item can be now be borrowed from our Norwood branch. It is a small battery operated device used to monitor the CO2 (Carbon dioxide) levels in your home to determine your indoor air quality. You can visit Peterborough Public Health for more information. Our ‘Library of Things’ collection is growing. See what we have to offer by selecting “Library Services” at the top of the page.

Gingerbread House Contest in partnership with Oakland Greens Golf & Country Club – Our annual Gingerbread House contest is back! Kits are available at both branches while supplies last, first come first served, one kit per family. Please read the full contest details

Holiday Family Fun Packs – Registration is open for our Holiday Family Fun Packs. These FREE packs include personalized books selected based on your preferences*, a holiday activity package and a DVD. Register by Tuesday, December 12th. All packs will be available for pickup Saturday, December 16th. 
*Library card required, books and DVD to be returned by due date. 

Holiday Arrangement Craft Night with Asphodel-Norwood Cultural and Heritage Committee – Join us Wednesday December 6th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at our Westwood Branch (312 Centre Line ) for a guided family craft night featuring two holiday ornaments. Workshop is at capacity.  

Holiday Family Craft Night with Old FarmHouse Flowers – Create a fresh holiday arrangement with Old FarmHouse Flowers. All supplies will be provided. Tuesday, December 12 from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. Norwood Branch. Workshop is at capacity. 

Herb & Spice Club – Pick up a free take home kit each month of a featured herb or spice. Each kit contains a small sample of the herb or spice and some suggested recipes to try. Join the Facebook group to share your food pictures and reviews! Registration is required.

Stories & More with Ms. Trish – This program is for toddlers and preschoolers looking to have fun while sharing in our love of books! Music, movement, stories and more. Come join the fun every Tuesday morning at our Norwood branch at 10:30 am. Registration is not required. 

Feel Good Fridays – This program for adults focuses on feeling good with movement, laughter, and community. Click here to register or call either branch of the library. Program resumes January 5, 2024.

Saturday Stories – In partnership with our local Swans group, Saturday Stories is for children of all ages who love read aloud books! Bring a friend, and share a story and related activity. 1:30 p.m. Saturdays. There will be no story December 16 or 23.

Together Stitching – This fun program is all about social connection, stitched together with a little yarn! Beginner to advanced knitters, crocheters or other yarn artists are welcome. This drop-in program happens at our Westwood Branch every 2nd and 4th Thursday at 10:30 am. No program December 28.

Youth Book Club:
This fun group meets every other month to discuss our book selection and share our love of reading.
Join us for our next meeting on January 9, 2024 at our Norwood branch at 6pm to talk about Night of the Raven, Dawn of the Dove by Rati Mehrotra.

For the Love of Books (Norwood Book Club and Reading Challenge):
Each month we will reveal a new theme. You choose your own book related to the topic. Check our coming flyer for more information. We will meet at our Norwood Branch at 6:00 pm on the last Tuesday of each month (unless otherwise specified) to talk about our choices over refreshments.

Meeting dates:
January 30, 2024 – Self-help or Self-improvement 
February 27, 2024 – Romance or Romantic Suspense
March, 26, 2024 – A book from the last 5 years that has been adapted into a movie or TV series

Get information on how to renew your driver’s license or health card, how to get a birth or marriage certificate, how to obtain or renew your Outdoors Card, or how to register your business. If you need help, ask a librarian.

Asphodel-Norwood Public Library always has great new books to check out – if we don’t own it, you can ask for it to be added to our suggestion list, or if it’s an older title, we may be able to borrow it from another library through the Inter-Library Loan network.

KidsStuff at ANPL

There is a special reading room at OverDrive made especially for children and youth. Try out the Kid’s Reading Room today.

Stories & More with Ms. Trish is up and running! Join us Tuesdays at 10:30am at our Norwood Branch for stories, songs, activities and more.

Saturday Stories happen every Saturday in Norwood at 1:30pm.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Did you know that if you read just one book a day to your child, you will read 1,095 books in three years?

On behalf of the 1,000 Books Foundation, we invite you to participate in this free program.

Register at either branch, keep a log of the books you read, and receive rewards for reading to your child.
